NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS) UNIT
The
College of Nursing, Nirmala Medical Centre is proud to announce the establishment of its National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, aimed at fostering social responsibility, leadership, and community engagement among students. Under the guidance of Sr. SHAIBY JOHN, Assistant Professor, who serves as the NSS Unit In-Charge, the unit is committed to instilling the values of selfless service, discipline, and active citizenship in nursing students.
Objectives
of the NSS Unit:
- Encourage
students to participate in community
service and social development activities.
- Promote health awareness programs, environmental
initiatives, and rural outreach.
- Develop leadership qualities, teamwork, and
professional ethics among students.
- Organize health camps, blood donation drives, and
awareness campaigns on public health issues.
Future

- Conduct community health programs and medical
camps for underserved populations.
- Organize awareness drives on sanitation,
environmental sustainability, and disease prevention.
- Collaborate
with local organizations and
healthcare institutions to enhance social impact.
- Implement special outreach projects to
support vulnerable groups in society.
The
NSS Unit focuses on organizing health awareness programs, medical camps,
environmental initiatives, and outreach activities to benefit society. Students
are encouraged to take part in blood donation drives, sanitation programs,
rural health initiatives, and awareness campaigns on issues such as public
hygiene, disease prevention, and nutrition. These activities provide students
with hands-on experience in community health nursing, fostering their personal
and professional development while contributing to the well-being of the
community.
Moving
forward, the NSS Unit plans to collaborate with local organizations, government
agencies, and NGOs to enhance its reach and impact. The unit will actively
engage in disaster relief programs, social empowerment projects, and
capacity-building workshops for underprivileged groups. By participating in NSS
activities, students develop empathy, teamwork, leadership skills, and a strong
sense of social responsibility, making them well-rounded healthcare
professionals dedicated to serving society.
