STUDENT GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEE (SGRC)

The Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) at the College of Nursing, Nirmala Medical Centre serves as a dedicated body to address and resolve concerns raised by students in a fair, confidential, and structured manner. The committee plays a crucial role in ensuring a harmonious academic environment, fostering student well-being and institutional accountability.

OBJECTIVES OF COMMITTEE
  • To establish a formal mechanism for students to voice their concerns related to academic, administrative, and personal matters.
  • To ensure that grievances are addressed promptly, fairly, and transparently while maintaining confidentiality.
  • To uphold student rights and create a safe and inclusive educational environment.
  • To foster mutual respect, discipline, and a positive student-institution relationship.
  • To work towards the prevention of harassment, discrimination, and unfair practices in the institution.
TYPES OF GRIEVANCES HANDLED

The SGRC handles a range of student concerns, including but not limited to:

  1. Academic Grievances – Issues related to exams, results, teaching methods, faculty interactions, and curriculum delivery.
  2. Administrative Grievances – Concerns regarding hostel facilities, library services, campus amenities, and staff behavior.
  3. Harassment & Discrimination – Cases related to bullying, ragging, gender-based discrimination, or any form of misconduct.
  4. Financial Grievances – Issues concerning fees, scholarships, or financial assistance.
  5. Disciplinary Matters – Complaints regarding unfair treatment, ethical concerns, or student conduct issues.

Grievance Redressal Process:

  1. Submission of Complaint:
    • Students can submit their grievances in writing to the committee or through a dedicated online grievance portal.
    • Complaints can also be placed in the Grievance Box located on the campus.
    • Anonymous complaints related to harassment or discrimination are also considered.
  2. Review & Investigation:
    • The committee reviews the complaint and conducts an inquiry, gathering necessary evidence and perspectives.
    • If required, the committee may call the student for a confidential discussion.
  3. Resolution & Follow-Up:
    • Based on findings, appropriate corrective measures are taken.
    • The student is informed about the resolution, and follow-up actions are ensured for sustained improvement.
  4. Appeal Process:
    • If the student is unsatisfied with the resolution, they can appeal to the Principal for further review.

Student Awareness & Accessibility:

  • Awareness programs are conducted regularly to educate students about their rights and the grievance redressal mechanism.
  • The grievance portal and complaint submission process are displayed on notice boards for easy access.
  • The committee ensures that every complaint is addressed without fear of bias or retribution.
